Thanks to Seattle Bike Blog for picking up our request for video footage. The days are getting longer and the sun is making appearances. We need footage, and we would love to have a video done in time for Bike To Work Month, which is May.
Seattle-based dream-pop band Half Light needs help from the city’s cyclists. We’re looking for cycling footage to use in a video for our song “Emerald City.” The song’s lyrics were written after our bass player / lead singer, Dayna Loeffler, had a particularly nice ride into work. Dayna says she remembers that there was no traffic on the Ballard Bridge sidewalk, that she had no trouble merging into traffic and though it was cold, the sun was shining and the view of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains from Myrtle-Edwards Park was epic.
We want to stitch together video that shows the glory of our city as seen from the saddle by using footage taken by cyclists during their rides all over the Seattle. In particular we want footage taken in sunshine (or Half Light) that is not too shaky, bumpy or rough (easy to look at and follow) and shows the beautiful places in our city. Places like: Seward Park, any bridge, the arboretum, Lake Wa BLVD, any mountains, downtown, waterfront, iconic skyline views etc. If your clip is used in the video the band will get you a free MP3 download of the entire new album and full credit will be given to all video contributors. This commuter vid has nice lighting and is not too shaky – we’d like a little more scenery, but this is pretty close: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CvyRCDnF-g

We met this week with our good friends at Knick Knack Records and have finalized the Release Date for our new album, “Things To Figure Out” – and that would be March 26th! More news to follow!
If you only make it out to one of our shows this year – make it this one! Our friend at Knick Knack Records will be there to hook you up with copies of the new vinyl as well as merch. Mark your calendars!
Our good friends at Knick Knack Records have informed us that our vinyl is pressed & should be making its journey our way this week. We’ve been waiting a while for this, and are stoked to finally have our grubby hands on some boxes of records. We’ll post an update when the release is available for purchase via Knick Knack!
We’ve got more than a few songs in our hip pocket. There’s going to be AT LEAST 1 Half Light Release in 2013 – if all goes well, 2 or more. So – after MUCH HIATUS on the record release front, we’re aiming to change that & make up for it as much as Half-Light-ily possible in the coming year, WASP-Cultist-Money-Maker-Schemers-Predicting-Mayan-Apocalypse-In-December-2012-Be-Damned.
Queue the swirly sounds, we’ve got something for you to vibe on.
We’ll be playing in the U District @ The Rat & The Raven. Thursday, June 28th.
